Responsibilities

The Communications Department is responsible for the development of integrated communications strategies that support the Mayor and City to build community awareness. The communications department serves as the primary point of contact for the media and is responsible for securing and managing media events and is the point of contact for media including television, radio, and print. The department works to further the goals and achievements of the administration and strive to ensure transparent, timely, and accurate communication with the public and media aiding in their understanding of municipal governance.

Social Media Center

City of New Carrollton 

The Department of Communications distributes updates and interact with the public through daily updates on Facebook, Instagram, and X pages.  

New Carrollton Police Department

The New Carrollton Police Department communicates updates on crime reports, critical alert notifications, emergencies, and general activities to New Carrollton residents.  

New Carrollton TV Channels

The municipality of New Carrollton operates its own Public Access Channel that broadcast on Comcast Xfinity Channel 30 and Verizon FiOS Channel 71.

The channels provide residents with access to City Council meetings and keep them informed about special events and community programs.
