Welcome to the City of New Carrollton.
New Carrollton may be best known as a transportation hub, but the City offers so much more to the D.C. Metropolitan region. From a residential suburb of the 1950s serving as a bedroom community for D.C. commuters, our residents are now within minutes of the Internal Revenue Service regional center, the State of Maryland's Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters, the regional offices of Kaiser Permanente, and one of the East Coast's busiest transportation hubs. In addition to AMTRAK, MARC, and Metro, the completion of the Purple Line by 2022 will provide an east-west route between New Carrollton and Bethesda. With stops at the University of Maryland campus and other community centers, the Purple Line promises to open even greater opportunities for New Carrollton's growth. Our transportation hub puts us at the top of the list of Prince George's County Transit Oriented Development locations.
We are also a residential community with a rich history. At the core of our community are residents, many of whom have lived here for half a century or more, who have embraced an emerging diverse community that welcomes newcomers and visitors. The City relies heavily on our citizens to create community. We take pride in our newly-renovated library, churches, swim club, community gardens, award-winning flower gardens, Friends of the Library, Friends of the Police Foundation, Alpine Dancers, local theater group, and other volunteer-run civic organizations highlighting New Carrollton residents' community involvement.
Thank you for your interest. We hope you are able to include a visit to our community in your future plans. If you do not find what you are looking for on the website, click the "Contact Us" link to get in touch our staff.
Yours in Service,
Phelecia E. Nembhard
